## COSMOS-Web Interactive Sky Map Released

COSMOS-Web Interactive Sky Map Released

The COSMOS-Web program, led by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), has released the largest interactive sky map to date, created using data from the James Webb Space Telescope. This map is now accessible to the public.

The map is available online and covers an area of 0.54 square degrees of the sky. It comprises over 1.5 terabytes of data, showcasing numerous celestial bodies, including galaxies more than 13.5 billion light-years away. These galaxies are among the oldest ever observed, formed shortly after the Big Bang.

Access the map through this link . No registration or download is necessary, and it is compatible with any web browser.

The map allows users to explore the sky similarly to Google Maps or Google Earth. Users can zoom in and out and apply various observation filters, such as F115W, F150W, F277W, and F444W, to view different wavelengths. Additionally, users can adjust the color settings (brightness, contrast) to enhance their viewing experience.

By using the filters, users can distinguish between interstellar dust and distant galaxies, whose light has been stretched by the universe's expansion. The platform aims to democratize access to complex astronomical data, making it a valuable resource for both researchers and the general public.
