Google met la main sur Galileo AI pour donner naissance à Stitch

Google Acquires Galileo AI to Launch Stitch

Google has acquired Galileo AI , a San Francisco-based startup specializing in generating user interfaces from textual prompts. This acquisition leads to the creation of Stitch , a new generative AI tool designed to produce UI mockups and code for designers, developers, and entrepreneurs. This move highlights Google's intent to invest in AI-assisted design, utilizing Gemini as its technical engine.

Founded in 2022 by Arnaud Bénard , a former NLP researcher at Google, and Helen Zhou , ex-product designer at Facebook and Cruise, Galileo AI aims to harness language models for generating usable interfaces by addressing three main challenges: visual quality, structural coherence, and technical scalability.

The team developed a proprietary design system , trained on thousands of handcrafted variations. Unlike approaches based on Dribbble or Midjourney, Galileo focuses on producing editable, modifiable, and directly usable interfaces rather than aesthetic renderings that are difficult to use in production.

Galileo AI reports an automation of 60 to 70% of the UI creation process , allowing designers to finalize screens. Use cases include design agencies seeking to reduce iteration time with clients, front-end developers looking for visually coherent components, and entrepreneurs aiming to quickly prototype a product.

The Galileo engine operates through a chat interface , capable of interpreting ambiguous prompts and prompting users for more precise results. The system generates complete flows (e.g., banking onboarding, e-commerce journeys) rather than isolated screens, distinguishing it from most competing solutions.

With Stitch, Google provides a solution that generates design and code from simple queries, leveraging the latest iterations of the Gemini models. The self-service approach is retained, enriched by an experimental mode featuring a more creative model. All Galileo users have a 30-day period to migrate to Stitch, which remains freely accessible.

This acquisition supports the functional expansion of the Gemini environment, potentially bridging with Android Studio, Firebase, or Google Workspace. Stitch could become an infrastructure component for rapid interface production , integrable into broader product development chains.
