Remora Robotics Secures €14.3 Million to Reduce Fish Mortality Through Robotics

On Mon, Jul 21, 2025, Remora Robotics announced a successful fundraising round of 164 million Norwegian kroner (approximately €14.3 million). The funding was led by Hatch Blue through its Blue Revolution Fund, with participation from Grieg Kapital. The capital will be used to enhance industrial capabilities and deploy a new software platform, featuring advanced continuous monitoring and environmental data analysis functions. This platform was introduced at Aqua Nor in August.

Remora Robotics has developed an autonomous robot designed to clean fish farming nets continuously and inspect their integrity. The system is equipped with onboard cameras and artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling it to detect defects or breaches in the nets and alert operators in real time. This solution aims to maintain better water quality, reduce stress levels on fish, and enhance gill health by providing a more stable environment without human intervention.

The autonomous cleaning system offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional high-pressure cleaning methods, which can disturb fish shoals and increase mortality rates. By implementing Remora's technology, fish farming operations can expect a more predictive and less intrusive management approach, allowing for better incident anticipation, targeted interventions, and extended infrastructure lifespan.

Remora's advancements align with the industry's need to address regulatory pressures and environmental concerns. According to Svein Erik Gregersen, CEO of Remora Robotics , the demand for these solutions is increasing, and installations have already been completed for several leading global producers.
